Winter 2011~2012
Just in time for Christmas, December 23, 2011 Ottawa awoke this morning with a dusting of snow. Up until then Ottawa was basking in above normal tempertures, there was no ground frost and we had green lawns through out the City.

And some more snow, in my aerial views. Today we have a heavy snow fall warning, so I will guess I'll have more to show then.

Sarah: October 18, 2011
I had a test shoot session Tuesday October 18, 2011 with the lovely Sarah. Here are some of my favourites.

Sarah with selective colour. I decided to keep her stunning green eyes in a B&W conversion.

B&W High-Key, Photoshop CS2 conversion.

The original colour version.
t

Shot with three Elinchrom strobes 36" softbox on each. Two at 45° above and to the side of the camera, one directly above as a hairlight.
Why do I photograph models, the Pretty Woman? A lifetime ago I was a police forensic photo tech, I saw horrible and ugly images. Now I take images I want to see, and to be frank, I like attractive women.

Test Shoot, October 18, 2011
I had a session Tuesday October 18, 2011 with the lovely Sarah. I haven't edited all the RAW files yet, but here are a couple I like.

She photographs well, so I'll look at the rest soon.

High Flight.
In tribute to the Late Cliff Robertson, who owned this Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX ( MK923).

"High Flight"
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air....
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew —
And, while with silent lifting mind I have trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
- Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
John Gillespie Magee, Jr. (9 June 1922 – 11 December 1941) RCAF, 412 Sqd. Died while flying a Spitfire.
Now some of my favourite aviation photos.

9/11
I was trying to think of a 9/11 tribute, and remembered I was wearing this t-shirt, that the Ottawa Professional Firefighters sold in 2001 to raise money for the family's of fallen FDNY comrades. I make a point to wear this t-shirt every September 11.

Cloud Play
When I returned from the cottage, Sunday evening (August 28, 2011) the City of Ottawa was treated with a cloud show. The sun was setting below a cover of clouds, that contained a lenticular cloud and all sorts of interesting colours and textures. From the balcony, Nice to have close to a 320° vista.

Cottage Time
Lazy days of August in this part of the World means Cottage Time. Just one hour from Ottawa on paved highways until the last mile. |
View of the cottage from the dock. (below) |
Various views. |
Beside the dock, at least a dozen (8 visible in photo) Smallmouth Bass. |
More nature. |
It wouldn't be a week at a cottage if there wasn't some "liquid sunshine" in seven days this was a late evening rain, rained off and on through the night and cleared up the next morning.

The morning mist at 6:00 AM, a paddle boat heads into the mist looking for Bass.
